An experienced and friendly Dispensing Assistant is required for a busy and reputable optical practice in Twickenham. This role is part of a group of 12 independent practices located across Dorset and Somerset, with deep roots in the community and a long-standing reputation for delivering high-quality eye care.

The Role
The Dispensing Assistant will play a key part in the patient journey – advising on, fitting, and supplying the most appropriate spectacle frames and lenses tailored to each patient’s needs. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a calm and caring nature, and a genuine desire to provide outstanding customer care.
You’ll also support general practice operations and work closely with the rest of the team to ensure a seamless and professional patient experience.

Main Responsibilities
” Greeting patients and assisting with their queries
” Booking appointments and managing clinical paperwork
” Processing spectacle and contact lens orders
” Making minor adjustments and repairs to glasses
” Dispensing frames and lenses based on prescriptions
” Conducting pre-screening tests under Optometrist supervision
” Advising on lens and frame choices suited to lifestyle and preferences
” Handling payments and general reception duties
” Keeping up-to-date with frame styles, materials, and lens technologies

What You’ll Need
” Minimum of two GCSEs at grade C/Level 4 or above in Maths & English
” Previous experience in a dispensing or optical assistant role is essential
” Friendly, approachable, and empathetic manner
” Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
” A professional appearance and attitude
” Confidence with using computers and modern systems
” Team player who is also comfortable working independently
