Overview Doctors who have completed a recognised post-graduate qualification in General Medicine or allied specialties and are seeking further specialization or qualification or both (more senior resident) as well as UK NHS experience. Doctors who have attained specialist status in any of the medical specialties and seek further specific experience and research opportunities (established practitioner).
Responsibilities To provide the assessment, diagnosis and initial management of all patients admitted under the care of the consultant-led Neurosurgery team.
To participate in cranial and spinal outpatient clinics.
To support Neurosurgical theatres as required, under consultant supervision.
To attend and support the Neurosurgical departmental meetings (MDT / Radiology Teaching) as required.
As part of the on-call middle grade team, to act as first point of referral for emergency referrals to the department, liaising with the on-call neurosurgical consultant.
Qualifications and Experience The post holder will have an agreed experience in Neurosurgery including ward cover, specialist in-patient reviews and procedures, audit and research. It is prudent to be a team player with excellent inter-personal skills to join the Neurosurgery Team. Appointments would be at a level equivalent senior.
