Specialist Occupational Therapist – Oxfordshire Stroke Rehabilitation Unit
Full time Band 6 Occupational Therapist (OT) position within the Oxfordshire Stroke Rehabilitation Unit at Abingdon Community Hospital. The award‐winning team focuses on enhancing patients’ quality of life and facilitating safe discharge from hospital.
Responsibilities
* Provide high‑quality stroke rehabilitation services in line with current best evidence‑based practice.
* Conduct physical and cognitive/functional assessments and deliver person‑centred interventions that improve daily activity performance and overall wellbeing.
* Prescribe equipment, assess home environments and plan ongoing rehabilitation.
* Represent and lead the service at family meetings and communicate effectively within the MDT, family and external organisations (e.g., social care, specialist services).
* Maintain clinical governance, adhere to protocols and procedures to ensure quality standards.
Qualifications & Experience
Experience in performing specific physical and cognitive/functional assessments for stroke patients. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively within multidisciplinary teams and with families. Ability to support patients in achieving self‑management, accessing environments and returning to their previous occupations and community involvement.
