Are you an experienced Industrial Refrigeration Design Engineer looking to work on large-scale, technically challenging cooling projects?
Our client is a well-established designer and manufacturer of industrial refrigeration and cooling systems, delivering energy-efficient solutions across food production, cold storage, and industrial process environments. Due to continued growth, they are expanding their engineering team and looking for a talented Industrial Refrigeration Design Engineer.
This is a key technical role where you'll play a vital part in developing innovative, high-performance refrigeration systems used in major industrial projects across the UK.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll be involved throughout the design lifecycle, with responsibilities including:
Designing industrial refrigeration systems including:
DX CO2
Pumped CO2
Pumped ammonia
Glycol/secondary systems
Chillers and heat pumps
Carrying out refrigeration load calculations, energy modelling, and system performance analysis
Producing high-quality engineering documentation including P&IDs, schematics, layout drawings, and equipment schedules
Selecting and sizing key components such as compressors, heat exchangers, valves, and pipework
Ensuring compliance with industry standards (EN378, PED, ASHRAE) and internal engineering procedures
Supporting construction and commissioning documentation
Contributing to design risk assessments and HAZOP reviews
Providing technical support during installation, commissioning, and handover
Conducting site surveys and attending technical meetings when required
Producing accurate mechanical and refrigeration drawings using AutoCAD
Who We're Looking For

You'll ideally have:
Experience in industrial refrigeration system design
A degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (preferred, not essential with strong experience)
Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and refrigeration principles
Experience producing and interpreting P&IDs
Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
A valid UK driving license
