Senior Quality Engineer
Position Type: Permanent

Location: Onsite in Birmingham
Company Overview: My client is a precision manufacturing business based in Birmingham, specializing in machining and assembly of high-value, low-volume components.
Role Overview: The Senior Quality Engineer will ensure products meet quality standards, minimize quality costs, and maximize customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include ensuring incoming materials and products meet standards, identifying and resolving quality issues promptly to prevent customer impact.
Responsibilities:
* Lead the quality engineering team, manage MRB processes, report KPIs, and implement improvement plans to meet quality objectives.
* Oversee non-conformance processes, ensuring timely resolution and corrective actions.
* Support process improvement initiatives.
* Train staff on quality awareness within the team and organization.
* Act as Deputy for the Quality Manager when needed.
* Handle special projects as assigned.
* Monitor product quality and report to management.
* Investigate quality issues, establish root causes, and liaise with stakeholders for improvements.
* Conduct benchmarking to identify best practices and trends.
* Resolve quality issues through root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
* Support development of FMEAs, quality control, and test plans during product lifecycle.
* Review and action customer complaints.
* Manage rework quality, review rework instructions, and ensure compliance.
* Manage factory quality KPIs and lead their communication and improvement initiatives.
* Provide quality support and guidance to team members.
Qualifications, Experience, Skills:
* Degree or equivalent in engineering or manufacturing.
* Strong background in Quality Engineering and Assurance, preferably in OEM manufacturing/assembly.
* Experience dealing with customers and suppliers.
* Knowledge of 8D/3C principles, investigation reporting, and stakeholder communication.
* Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and FAIRs.
* Understanding of engineering drawings, manufacturing processes, and GD&T.
