Job Description:
Julia’s House, the Dorset and Wiltshire Children’s Hospice is looking for friendly and enthusiastic individuals in the Weymouth area to support us in this rewarding volunteer role sourcing new collection can placements, collecting full cans, and helping us to raise awareness and vital funds in support our services.
This role is very flexible so that it can fit around your other commitments. It includes;
* Distributing cans to local businesses such as pubs, shops, restaurants etc.
* Keeping up to date records with the Julia’s House community team of where cans have been placed
* Collecting cans when they are full and issuing new cans
* Arranging for the cans to reach head office for counting
* Representing the charity to help raise awareness and money in support our services.
Volunteering has lots of benefits from building confidence to reducing stress and is a great way to learn a new skill, make friends, and have fun.
You don’t have to have experience to be a volunteer at Julia’s House as we provide all the training you will require.
Skills and experience:
* Honesty and reliability
* Good communication skills – phone and face to face
* An organised approach to record keeping
* Deliver and collecting collection cans in your local area
* Outgoing, friendly and someone enjoys meeting people
* Good local knowledge with the ability to network and identify opportunities for potential collections in your local area
* Over 18 years of age
* Driving licence and access to a car
(Volunteers play a crucial role at Julia’s House and it is the Charity’s policy to reimburse volunteers for expenses incurred. All expenses must be agreed in advance with the person you are responsible to before carrying out any duties that may incur a cost. Please see the expenses policy for more information.)
