Overview
This opportunity is for a Junior Project Manager to be based in our Aylesbury practice, co-located with Client team to support the ongoing delivery of the Buckinghamshire Highways Alliance Partnership.
This is an exciting role to support the delivery of a £1m portfolio projects on the Contract, working in a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, supervisors, technicians and other professionals. You will be responsible for the delivery of work packages that form part of the overall highway delivery which will include highway improvement and maintenance schemes.
The role involves particular focus on financial analysis, including creating budgets and forecasts, monitoring costs, reporting on progress, and implementing financial controls to maintain project health. Attendance at the client office is preferable at least once a week.
Your role
Responsible for the financial management of a large portfolio of schemes.
Provide high quality project and programme management standards.
Accurate client and internal reporting on the project costs, programme, risks and issues.
Developing and maintaining excellent Stakeholder and Alliance relationships.
Implement effective and efficient communication tools.
Positively influence the internal team and seeks to add value.
About You
Understanding of Project Control and Project Management principles for programmes.
Understanding of the importance of timely reporting and the energy to deliver to deadlines.
The ability to build strong relationships and support colleagues, display enthusiasm and a drive to grow, learn and develop within our organisation.
Essential Requirement
Ability to work independently and to prioritise tasks.
Sound Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
Excellent communication and numeracy skills.
Ability to show initiative to research information and data and to look for solutions to problems.
Good interpersonal skills with the ability to converse with a wide range of clients and colleagues across a number of disciplines.
A willingness to occasionally work flexibly from other office locations as required.
Desirable Requirement
Experience of working within the transportation consultancy industry for key clients, e.g. Local Authorities, Highways England, Network Rail, Developers and/or major Contractors.
Previous experience of working in a project support role, supporting a project manager/director or team.
Client engagement experience.
Experience of working with remote teams to deliver common goals.
Knowledge of planning and scheduling software such as Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project - not essential, but an advantage.
