Digital Midwife, Band 6 (15 hours a week)
This post is for a digital midwife to provide support, coordination, facilitation, evaluation and improvement across the digital maternity work streams. It is aimed at a registered midwife with data management and informatics skills, who will support health and care services to improve outcomes for pregnant women and address health inequalities.
Responsibilities
 * Design and implement national digital programmes, including oversight of progress against digital transformation plans.
 * Develop a networked approach to enable digital transformation across maternity services.
 * Act as an autonomous, accountable practitioner, working independently and collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and midwives in day‑to‑day settings.
 * Take responsibility for day‑to‑day system administration of the maternity section of the electronic health records (EPR) system in conjunction with the Lead Digital Midwife.
 * Support the delivery of a high‑quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, ensuring quality data is submitted to inform trends and service improvement.
 * Participate in escalation on‑call rota and report any concerns to ward managers and matrons.
 * Contribute to service improvement plans, implementation of new ways of working, and facilitate cultural change across the department.
 * Educate and support all staff in the multidisciplinary team, including teaching on audits, system usage and data quality.
 * Conduct regular data quality audits and collaborate with the Lead Audit Midwife to correct data errors.
 * Work with the IT training lead to identify and deliver appropriate training.
 * Ensure accurate and timely completion of all maternity pathways and antenatal/postnatal community appointments within the EPR system.
 * Act as a link for queries raised by child health services, birth registrars, or community midwives from other maternity services.
 * Communicate with other staff within the trust, external organisations and the general public regarding digital maternity initiatives.
Qualifications
 * Registered midwife with recent clinical experience.
 * Data management and informatics skills, including experience with electronic health records.
 * Ability to work independently and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
 * Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
 * Resilience and emotional ability to cope under pressure and in a demanding, unpredictable workload.
