Make A Difference Every Day

As a Residential Education Worker no two days are the same. They are seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join their residential care team on a permanent basis, supporting young people with complex learning disabilities, severe social communication difficulties and behavioural needs.

You will support our young people in their residential houses on site, outside of the school day, at weekends and during school holidays. Your role will focus on helping them to develop interests, independence and essential life skills.

Working closely with teachers and therapists you will help assess and monitor each student’s progress. Your responsibilities will include:

* Supporting with personal care
* Helping young people choose and prepare meals
* Supporting shopping and money-handling skills
* Accompanying activities on and off site

During the school holidays their young people enjoy a wide range of fully supported trips, including visits to the beach and safari park, adventure parks, meals out, inclusive cycling sessions and Airhop.

Training, Support and Development

You will be supported by a skilled and dedicated management team. Their comprehensive training and mentoring programme include safeguarding, autism awareness and positive behaviour support. They will equip you with the skills and confidence to:

* Provide clear boundaries and choices
* Support positive behaviour
* Deliver safe and effective physical intervention when required

They are a non-maintained specialist school, college and on-site children’s home, working with complex and vulnerable children and young people, many with autism. This role offers a genuine opportunity to make a lasting difference, build life skills and help prepare young people for adulthood.

Who They Are Looking For

You do not need previous experience. They are looking for people with:

* Empathy, enthusiasm and compassion
* Strong mental, physical and emotional resilience are essential
* A keen desire to make a real difference

You must be prepared to provide personal care (after full training), as some of their young people require support to remain clean and comfortable.

Career Progression

After two years working in the residential care team, and on successful completion of a QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare (subject to satisfactory progression and appraisal), you will progress to Senior Residential Education Worker, earning £28,232 - £29,881.

If recruited, you will be required to complete Team Teach positive behaviour support training as part of your week-long induction before employment. This training is refreshed annually.

Working Hours

You will work 37 hours per week on a shift pattern (to be advised), which will include weekend working. You will very occasionally be required to cover sleep-in duties, which will be paid at the appropriate rate.
