Job Purpose:
The role is essential for keeping the site plant and equipment running efficiently, focusing on proactive and reactive mechanical repairs.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment and machinery. The role ensures operational efficiency, equipment reliability, and adherence to health, safety and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Mechanical maintenance: Performing both reactive and proactive mechanical repairs and improvements on plant equipment
Conduct planned and reactive maintenance on various mechanical systems (both offline and online i.e. hydraulic roller systems, racks, pipe handling facilities) and plant equipment
Diagnose mechanical faults and perform timely repairs to minimize downtime
Assemble, install and test mechanical components and systems
Carry out preventative maintenance schedules in line with operational requirements
Perform time critical reconfigurations
Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, inspections and equipment performance
Ensure compliance with company HSE policies, procedures and standards
Support engineering projects, including equipment modifications and upgrades
Liaise with other maintenance disciplines and production teams to ensure seamless operations
Identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency and safety of mechanical equipment
Required Qualifications & Experience:
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Fitting or related discipline
Proven experience as a mechanic or fitter in an industrial or heavy manufacturing environment
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics etc.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics and manuals
Familiarity with safe working practices, including confined space entry and working at heights

Flexible approach to shift patterns and emergency call-outs
Desirable:
Experience in large plant or heavy industrial environments, with a focus on hydraulics, pneumatics etc.
Welding or fabrication experience would be advantageous
