What you will be doing:
We are looking applicants interested in joining our Construction Delivery team. Due to further expansion of our works programmes, we have a range of positions available.
Dorset Highways carry's out Dorset Council's responsibilities as a highway authority for Dorset's network. The service manages over 2,400 miles of carriageway. We are responsible for everything associated with the highway assets such as bridges & structures, cycleways, footways, drainage, and road signs & markings.
Roles available:
* Roadworker Level 1 £24,790 - £26,409 *Potential for Highway Maintenance Skilled Operative Level 2 apprenticeships with this post current starting salary of £25,992
Working hours based on an annual 37 hour working week
07:45 – 15:30 Monday – Friday (Winter) 35 hours
07:45 – 16:30 Monday – Thursday, 07:45 – 15:30 Friday (Summer) 39 hours
About you:
You are a passionate, dedicated individual interested in a career in Highway Construction and Maintenance. You enjoy working outdoors and learning new skills. You care about your local area and want to contribute to making Dorset a better place to live, work and visit.
Ideally you will have practical construction experience at either skilled or supervisory level. However, this is not essential as Dorset Council are committed to developing a fully trained and diverse team.
What we will need from you:
* A full driving Licence.
* A willingness to learn, be part of a team, be adaptable and reliable.
Ideally, but not essential, experience in some or all the areas below:
- Surface dressing, line marking, kerbing, concrete work, paving and slabbing, laying asphalt, drainage, iron works, post erection, sign erection, fencing, plant or agricultural operators, HGV drivers.
