Job Details Fife Council Children & Family Service is undergoing a period of redesign to ensure services offer both an early help and support function alongside core statutory services to improve outcomes for children, young people and families in Fife. We are looking for a motivated, dynamic and enthusiastic Social Worker to be a part of our newly formed, Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC) & Continuing Care Service. This exciting role involves engaging and supporting young people navigating independence, including assisting in the assessment and development of pathway plans that identify strengths, risks and needs. A significant area of focus includes supporting young people arriving through the National Transfer Scheme and assisting them with integrating into the local Fife community. You will: Be able to assess need, risks and strengths and develop care plans, ensuring young people are involved in their planning. Be passionate about participation and ensuring young people's voice is included in service delivery. Be passionate about supporting young people to navigate independence. Be able to work on a 1:1 basis to provide individual support to young people to improve their outcomes. Establish close & effective working relationships with colleagues across a range of services to provide support to young people, their families and caregivers. Be empathetic, understanding, creative and pro-active, with an ability to think out with the box to problem solve. Have an understanding of the national frameworks to support their engagement with our UASC population. The Person You will be skilled at building positive relationships and resilience in families, work in collaboration with partners, e.g. Health Service, Education, Police and Voluntary Sector Agencies. You will be a supportive team player and work well independently, you will have strong written and verbal communication skills coupled with strong organisation and time-management abilities. You will have the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure and be willing to learn and engage in professional development. You will practice in a way that empowers others. Experience of working in Children and Families settings is desirable, particularly statutory settings. We are child-focused, non-discriminatory, strength-based and trauma-informed, non-stigmatising and inclusive, and we adopt a whole family approach. Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme. As this role requires SSSC registration, you will have three months to apply for registration. If appointed, you must start your application as soon as possible so you're registered within the required six months. If you need to achieve a qualification to maintain your SSSC membership, information will be provided if you are appointed. You must ensure you complete the qualification within the specified timeframe. More details are included in the role profile.
