IT Field Services Engineer
Join ESP Global Services as an IT Field Services Engineer, supporting clients in the South of the UK and beyond. ESP is a managed IT services provider delivering 24/7 support worldwide. The role is primarily remote, covering the South region with occasional site visits across the UK.
Responsibilities
* Provide 1st and 2nd line desktop support, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
* Install, configure, and troubleshoot desktops, printers, laptops, and peripheral devices.
* Perform break/fix maintenance and update device drivers and firmware.
* Deliver desk‑side support and basic administration of operating systems and common off‑the‑shelf software.
* Complete calls with professionalism, meeting quality and service‑level targets.
* Update tickets in ESP or customer call‑management systems.
* Escalate problems to the appropriate next level when necessary.
* Support occasional holiday cover at busy airport locations, adapting to variable shift patterns.
Requirements
* Proficiency in installing, upgrading, building, repairing, configuring, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and preventive maintenance of PCs.
* Up to 2 years of direct PC/laptop hardware service experience and knowledge of current operating systems.
* Basic knowledge of enterprise LAN/WAN setups, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and RDP.
* Capability to perform complex tasks with detailed scripts and technical assistance.
* Willingness to travel to various locations on short notice.
* Flexible to work days and night shifts (12‑hour pattern) for airport coverage.
* Strong written and oral communication skills with customers and management.
* Strong customer‑service ethos.
* 5 years UK working or educational history for airside clearance checks.
Working Hours & Benefits
The standard schedule is Monday–Friday 9:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m., with flexibility for days and night shifts as required. Pay is £28 000–£30 000 per year, plus a company vehicle, mileage, on‑call allowance, pension, life assurance, and access to ongoing training and career development. On‑call work is paid at £20 per day, applied roughly once every ten weeks.
