The Division
The UK-based Integrated Components and Solutions team offers exciting engineering opportunities focused on integrating electronic control systems into Caterpillar products. Incorporating the latest electronics and electrical technology helps differentiate our products through exceptional performance and value.
Our engine systems control air and fuel delivery with millisecond precision, optimize power and response, and manage aftertreatment systems to maximize performance and reduce emissions.
Our battery management systems oversee machine battery packs, providing advanced algorithms for state-of-charge, health, and safety, managing charging/discharging, and integrating with other system components like powertrain controllers and chargers.
Our integrated machine systems control all aspects of construction machine operation, provide human-machine interfaces, and monitor and communicate operational data to enable automation, improve productivity, and enhance serviceability.
Job Role and Responsibilities
You will be part of a team developing electro-mechanical control systems using quantitative methods to solve problems for internal and external customers. Responsibilities may include:
* Collecting customer requirements and developing technical specifications for electronic features.
* Developing electrical system architectures and solutions to meet technical requirements.
* Defining control algorithms and developing software using model-based techniques.
* Planning and testing verification of electronic features via simulation, SIL, HIL test benches, or actual machines.
* Troubleshooting and resolving electronics/control system issues during build and test phases.
* Investigating performance issues, identifying root causes, and implementing improvements.
* Participating in FMEA, functional safety, and product compliance reviews.
Basic Qualifications
A strong technical background, preferably with a degree in mechanical, electronic, electrical, control systems, or automotive engineering. Other qualifications or experience will also be considered.
Preferred Experience (depending on specific position):
* Off-highway machine/engine/EV control system development or similar automotive, marine, or military vehicle control systems.
