Summary of role
: Come and join our successful team as we explore beyond Iver Environment Centre. IEC is located within a stunning 2.5-acre rural site between Slough and Uxbridge. Though only a mile from Uxbridge underground station, our centre is a refuge from everyday life. With beehives, several dipping ponds, a mosaic of habitats, attractive gathering spaces and a fabulous play area, we are the perfect place to share your enthusiasm for the outdoors. Iver Environment Centre connects people to nature through school visits from predominantly primary aged children (4-11 years) along with family fun days, drop off holiday activities for children and activities for community groups.
We are looking for someone who is inspired by enthusing others, to join us as a Project Officer (Access and Outreach). Forming partnerships with schools, community groups and funders, you will tackle barriers to accessing nature and encourage our diverse community to come and visit Iver Environment Centre. You will also take our natural heritage to the community through outreach workshops, stalls and assemblies. You will lead on delivery at the Elsdale II floating classroom (currently moored at Greenford Quay, UB6 0FP, but also operating from the canal in Hayes and Southall).
The Environmental Education Officer will be enthusiastic, creative and committed, with previous experience of working with children (a variety of settings will be considered) and an interest in the natural world. You should be a good communicator with excellent organisational and time management skills. In return you will receive training and networking opportunities including accredited qualifications in first aid and food hygiene.
Flexible working hours will be considered, though this role is NOT suitable for a term time only contract.
