About the Role
Prospero Teaching is looking for a qualified QTS Tutor to join our team in Wigan starting in January 2026. This role involves delivering 1:1 tutoring in core subjects (Maths, English, and Science) to students who require additional support. We are looking for a highly skilled tutor with QTS who can tailor lessons to meet individual learning needs and help students build confidence, improve subject knowledge, and achieve academic success.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver 1:1 tutoring in Maths, English, and Science, adapting lesson content and pace to meet each students unique learning style.
Support students in developing academic knowledge, improving study skills, and preparing for exams with confidence.
Build a positive, supportive learning environment where students feel safe and motivated.
Track student progress and provide clear, constructive feedback to parents/carers or other professionals.
Develop and implement structured learning plans, ensuring a focused and goal-oriented approach.
Essential Requirements:
QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).
Minimum 1 year of teaching experience in core subjects (Maths, English, or Science).
Right to work in the UK.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
Ability to work independently and manage flexible schedules.
Desirable Qualifications:
Experience working with SEN learners (Autism, ADHD, SEMH).
Experience in secondary education or GCSE-level tutoring.
Additional Information:
Sessions typically take place during school hours, with some after-school or evening opportunities available.
Prospero Teaching will provide resources and regular progress monitoring to support your tutoring.
