Mechanical Project Engineer - 12-Month Fixed Term

Yolk Recruitment are supporting the recruitment of a hands-on Mechanical Project Engineer to lead a 12-month project focused on improving advanced production processes. This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious engineer to take ownership of a full project lifecycle, from design and instrumentation through trials and validation, enhancing process stability, yield, and product quality. Key responsibilities:
* Lead the full project lifecycle, managing scope, milestones, risks, and deliverables.
* Design, implement, and validate engineering solutions to improve process performance.
* Specify, install, and commission instrumentation and control systems (flow, pressure, temperature sensors, high-speed data capture, laser/optical diagnostics).
* Plan and execute process trials, analyse data, and validate performance improvements.
* Coordinate equipment installation, production trials, and collaborate with internal teams and external contractors.
* Produce technical reports, including KPIs, CAPEX/OPEX impact, and safety documentation.
* Provide day-to-day support to Technical and Engineering teams.
* Ensure adherence to HSE, quality, and governance standards.
Required Skills & Experience
* Project Engineering or Project Management experience in production or R&D environments.
* Understanding of fluid dynamics, thermal processes, and mechanical equipment design.
* Hands-on experience with instrumentation and control selection, installation, and commissioning.
* Ability to conduct safe, structured process trials and produce clear technical documentation.
* Excellent communication skills and experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
