Omega is proud to be supporting a leading organisation in the precision engineering sector in their search for a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Turner. In this hands-on, production-critical role, you will be responsible for setting, operating, and programming CNC lathes to manufacture high-precision components for a range of industries. You'll work with FANUC, ISO, and Mazatrol controls, and ideally have experience with offline CAM programming, ensuring efficient workflow and minimal downtime.
Responsibilities
* Set, operate, and program CNC Turning and Mill-Turn machines to manufacture high-precision components to specification.
* Interpret and work from technical engineering drawings, ensuring quality and dimensional accuracy.
* Program using FANUC, ISO, Mazatrol, and Okuma QSP-200L controls; experience with CAM software (e.g. hyperMill, SolidWorks) preferred.
* Operate machines including Victor, Hyundai, and Doosan lathes (multi-axis and Mill-Turn).
* Perform setups including fixture selection, tool offsets, speeds and feeds for a wide range of materials.
* Use manual measuring tools and CMM equipment for in-process and final inspections.
* Liaise with supervisors and production staff to meet daily targets and maintain high machine utilisation.
* Complete all production and quality paperwork accurately and on time.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment in accordance with company HSE standards.
* Support continuous improvement, LEAN manufacturing initiatives, and efficient workflow.
* Ensure compliance with internal procedures, customer requirements, and industry standards.
* Shift is 7:30 to 4pm Monday to Thursday and 7-1pm Friday.
Qualifications
* Time-served machinist or Apprentice trained in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering.
* Formal engineering qualification such as City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, or HNC.
* Proven experience with CNC Turning and Mill-Turn machinery in a precision engineering environment.
* Strong working knowledge of FANUC, ISO, Mazatrol, and ideally Okuma controls.
* CAM programming experience with hyperMill, SolidWorks, or similar platforms.
* Experience using manual and CMM inspection tools to validate machined components.
* Good understanding of technical drawings, tolerances, materials, and machining processes.
* Familiarity with LEAN manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
* Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain high quality standards.
* Clear communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
