Job Summary
We're looking for a reliable, motivated Warehouse Operative & Driver to join our team at Plumbase Altrincham. This is a full-time, hands-on role at the centre of a busy Plumbing, Heating and Bathroom Merchant, offering real variety, responsibility, and the chance to play a visible part in the success of the business.
A core part of the role involves delivering plumbing and heating products to trade customers across the local area using a company van. When out on the road, you'll be the face of our site, driving strong customer service, and reliable, on-time deliveries. Building positive, long-term relationships with customers is a key part of the role, and your day-to-day interactions directly contribute to the merchant's reputation, repeat business, and overall performance, including profit share.
When not making deliveries, you'll be fully involved in the warehouse, supporting goods-in, picking and preparing orders, managing stock, and keeping the environment safe, tidy, and well organised. You'll also provide support on the trade counter when extra help is needed, giving you exposure to customers, products, and site operations. Over time, there is clear scope for the right person to build product knowledge and customer confidence, with a view to progressing into a more dedicated trade counter role within the business.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver customer orders using a company van
* Occasional support on the trade counter when needed
* Drive professionally and responsibly
* Check van daily for defects
* Provide customer first, punctual service
* Load and unload the van and check items before delivery
* Receive and check deliveries from suppliers
* Pick and prepare customer orders for dispatch
* Perform heavy lifting of products
* Operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts
* Keep the warehouse clean, tidy, and well-organized
What We're Looking For
* A full UK driving license
* Experience in commercial driving, or experience in a warehouse environment
* Strong customer relationship building ability
* Plumbing and Heating product knowledge beneficial
* Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling
* A team player with a positive, can-do attitude
* Good attention to detail and reliable timekeeping
