Overview
The Trust is seeking a consultant forensic psychiatrist to join Broadmoor Hospital. The vacancy has arisen as a result of another consultant leaving. The successful applicant will be the Responsible Clinician for 15 patients on an increased support and assertive treatment (ISAT) ward. From time to time, attachments may be varied to meet the service needs, in discussion with the consultant.
Responsibilities
* Be the Responsible Clinician for 15 patients on the ISAT ward, providing leadership to the Clinical Team and coordinating the Care Plan for each patient within the framework of the Care Programme Approach.
* Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, including a ward manager, ward nursing staff, a clinical or forensic psychologist, a resident doctor, a social worker, a security liaison nurse and an occupational therapist.
* Regularly see ISAT patients in addition to Clinical Team Meetings.
* Carry out administrative duties related to patient care, including completion of reports to the First-Tier Tribunal (Mental Health), annual statutory reports to the Ministry of Justice, and other statutory and non-statutory reports within required timescales.
* Liaise with other forensic units regarding their patients.
Clinical Support and Environment
The post will enjoy support from a resident doctor. If a resident post is not filled, a specialty grade doctor or a Trust Grade doctor will be provided. The hospital provides high-quality physical healthcare via the dedicated Healthcare Centre led by a General Practitioner, with close links to local general hospitals for access to medical, surgical and other specialists. There is also a regular diabetic clinic within the hospital.
