Junior Test Engineer – Cheltenham – Permanent 40 hours per week – £ 28,000 per annum – willing to undergo Security Clearance if needed
Our client is looking to support a Junior Test Engineer in the early stages of their career, focusing on developing foundational testing skills, learning about testing methodologies, and gaining hands-on experience with basic testing tools and processes.
The role requires a proactive approach alongside the ability to take initiative in learning and applying testing methodologies.
To be successful as a Junior Test Engineer you will actively seek opportunities to assist the team through learning new tools, helping with existing projects, or identifying areas for process improvement. Demonstrating a self-starter attitude and eagerness to contribute is essential.
Working Patterns: Full time on site in Central Cheltenham.
The Key Responsibilities of a Junior Test Engineer:
* Support the broader Test team in a variety of tasks.
* Executing manual test cases, under supervision.
* Using basic automated test tools to run pre-defined scripts; basic maintenance of these scripts, under supervision.
* Recording test results.
* Reporting software issues.
* Basic design of test cases, test scripts and test data, under supervision.
* Understand the role of testing as a tool for design improvement and as a validation process.
* Researching new test tools and test techniques, under direction.
Below is a list of Key Skills required for the Junior Test Engineer, however you will not be expected to have everything:
* A degree or equivalent in computer science or IT; or a recognised ISTQB certification (e.g., ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level, ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level Agile Tester).
* An understanding of software testing principles.
* Ability to effectively communicate with immediate colleagues.
* Highly organised and detail-oriented.
* Effective time management skills with the ability to work flexibly and meet deadlines.
* Analytical mindset committed to improving the quality of the product being tested.
* Ability to apply newly acquired knowledge to develop new skills.
* Willing to undergo security clearance if required to work on Defence projects.
