Job Summary
Are you compassionate, proactive, and passionate about patient-centred care? This role supports GPs, nurses and clinicians across our two GP sites in Oulton and Rothwell to deliver high‑quality care in a fast‑paced environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Support the nursing team with routine clinical procedures (phlebotomy, blood pressure monitoring, ECG, wound care, dressing changes).
* Assist with NHS health checks, immunisations and reviews for patients with long‑term conditions.
* Provide basic health promotion and lifestyle advice in line with agreed protocols.
* Record clinical observations and interventions accurately in electronic patient records.
* Maintain cold‑chain storage for vaccines and manage clinical/surgical stock.
* Keep consultation and treatment rooms stocked, clean and ready for use.
* Maintain clinical equipment in line with infection prevention and control policies.
* Adhere to all practice policies – confidentiality, safeguarding, health and safety, infection control.
* Support the wider practice team with additional duties as required.

About the Practice
We are a well‑established GP practice with two sites – Oulton Medical Centre and Marsh Street Surgery. Our clinical team includes 7 GP partners, 2 salaried GPs, 4 GP registrars, 7 nurses (including 1 advanced clinical practitioner) and 4 healthcare assistants.
Person Specification
* GCSEs in English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above.
* Strong communication skills and a caring, compassionate approach.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Willingness to undertake training and develop clinical skills.
* Good organisational and time‑management skills.
* Basic IT skills – accurate recording in electronic patient records.
* Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
* Understanding or willingness to learn about infection prevention and control, health and safety and safeguarding principles.
Desirable
* Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant or in a similar patient‑facing role.
* Experience working within a GP practice or primary care setting.
* NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care, or willingness to work towards a relevant qualification.
* Experience with electronic patient record systems (e.g. SystmOne).
