We’re looking for a dedicated Head of Major Projects to join our Environment & Safety division and wear the SOCOTEC badge with pride. This is a national role carrying out high-level asbestos consultancy and audit work for external clients while providing senior operational leadership to mentor staff and drive up technical and commercial standards within SOCOTEC. You will lead the Major Projects division, driving the strategy for turnkey solutions and leading the successful tender and mobilization of large-scale framework contracts. The tasks you will undertake will include (but are not limited to): Consultancy & Standards: Carry out complex consultancy, gap analysis, and asbestos management plans for a diverse client base. Strategic Growth: Operating in a fast-paced consultancy environment to promote the business commercially and sustain high technical standards. Major Project Leadership: Head the Major Projects business unit, overseeing cradle to grave solutions and ensuring projects meet rigorous commercial performance targets. Tender & Mobilization: Lead the commercial architecting, pricing, and mobilization of major framework contracts, specifically within the nuclear and industrial sectors. Client Management: Work closely with stakeholders - including Business Development, Regional Managers, and Project Managers - to develop and manage high-value client portfolios beyond the local region. Technical Excellence: Provide a best in class service while promoting a right first time culture across all business activities. Mentoring: Provide in-house mentoring and 1-2-1 training to develop staff and drive operational standards across the management tier. Commercial Oversight: Monitor, manage, and report on ongoing contract metrics, including gross margin performance and project-specific EBITDA. Portfolio Management: Maintain established business relationships through effective portfolio management, providing accurate quotes and specifications for works as appropriate. Risk Management: Report any occurrences during business activity that may require legal advice or reporting to insurers to the Company Secretary.
