Keeler Recruitment is working in partnership with a privately owned, multi-entity organisation to assist in recruiting an accomplished Head of Finance to lead the finance function and provide high quality financial leadership to the senior management team. This is a key appointment with broad responsibility and genuine influence across the business.
The Role
The Head of Finance will be responsible for the overall management and performance of the finance function, ensuring robust financial control, accurate reporting and effective financial planning. The role combines hands on technical delivery with strategic and commercial input, supporting both operational decisions and longer term planning.
You will manage a small finance team and act as a trusted adviser to the Managing Director and Board, translating financial data into clear insight to inform decision making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Governance
* Lead the production of monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reporting.
* Prepare and present monthly board packs with financial commentary, KPI reporting and variance analysis.
* Oversee the year-end statutory accounts process and manage relationships with external auditors.
* Produce consolidated financial reporting across multiple legal entities.
Financial Controls & Compliance
* Maintain and enhance financial controls, policies and procedures.
* Oversee VAT compliance, payroll and PAYE processes, including liaison with HMRC where required.
* Review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure the ongoing integrity of financial data.
* Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors and professional advisers.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning
* Lead the annual budgeting and business planning process.
* Maintain rolling cash flow forecasts and proactively communicate liquidity and risk.
* Develop and maintain financial models to support commercial and strategic decisions.
* Provide financial analysis to support investment appraisal, pricing, resource planning and operational initiatives.
Cash & Treasury Management
* Oversee cash management, payment approvals and banking arrangements.
* Manage debtor collections and creditor payments in line with agreed terms.
* Support banking relationships at an operational level.
Strategic & Commercial Finance
* Partner closely with senior leadership, providing clear, commercially focused financial insight.
* Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, control costs and enhance financial performance.
* Contribute to the development of the organisation's longer-term financial strategy.
Leadership & Team Management
* Lead, coach and develop the finance team.
* Ensure effective workload planning, high levels of accuracy and continuous improvement.
* Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism and development within the finance function.
About You
* ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent).
* Experience in a senior finance role ideally within a multi-entity environment.
* Strong technical accounting knowledge (UK GAAP / IFRS) and experience with ERP systems.
* Proven leadership and stakeholder management capability.
* Highly analytical, commercially aware and confident operating at senior level.
* Organised, resilient and able to operate effectively under pressure.
