We have a fantastic opportunity for a Mental Health Support Worker to join the team at HMP YOI Doncaster, a Category B male prison, with operational capacity of around 1145, 200 of which are aged between 18 - 20 years old. This is a rare opportunity to join the Mental Health team, where you can make a real difference to the lives of those living with mental illnesses. This role is extremely varied, and you will manage your own caseload, deliver brief interventions, as well as run clinics for your patients.
Hours
This position is full time working 37.5 hours per week between Monday - Friday. Shifts are between 8am - 6:30pm, and you work the following: 3 x 8am - 6:30, 1 x 8am - 4pm.
Salary
You will receive an annual salary of up to £29,723 per annum depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
As our new Mental Health Support Worker, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:
* Deliver exceptional care to patients, both in the healthcare department and on the wings
* Facilitate clinics for those with mental illnesses, including bloods, observations (obs), ECGs, NHS Health checks etc
* Carry out physical health checks with patients with severe mental health illnesses, those on ADHD medication and anti-psychotic medication
* Hold and manage a caseload of up to 30 patients
* Deliver brief psychologically informed interventions
* Deliver group sessions and 1-1 support
* Support the nursing team with all aspects of care
* Act as a second checker in pharmacy as required
* Support receptions (new patients entering the prison) and assist with triaging new patients

Our new Mental Health Support Worker will:
* Ideally hold an NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care, or Care Certificate
* Have experience of working with those with mental illness or learning disabilities
* Have experience in a clinical care setting previously – ideally from a hospital or prison setting
* Have clinical experience - venepuncture, ECGs etc
* Have a non-judgemental and compassionate approach
