You will like: Ensuring the safety of engineering design for mechanical systems at a niche aviation engineering innovator in Uxbridge, West London, where you will be literally saving lives! This family-owned firm designs and manufactures specific safety systems for aerospace clients and is renowned for first-class products and services. You will be part of a top-tier team working with some of the brightest British engineers.
You will like: The Mechanical Safety Engineer role within the Product Safety department at the Uxbridge site. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety of aerospace product portfolios through investigations leading to corrective actions and continuous process improvements.
This includes generating design concepts aligned with regulatory and customer requirements, including international and military standards, as well as company standards. You will produce commercially viable product definition information (PDI), such as 3D models and engineering drawings.
You will also plan workloads effectively, perform technical calculations, prepare reports, conduct design reviews, and present findings. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to achieve optimal designs is essential. Mentoring junior personnel may be part of your role depending on your skills and experience. You will have:
* An IMechE accredited Mechanical Engineering Degree, Aerospace Engineering Degree, or equivalent
* A 1st or 2.1 degree from a Russell Group or Redbrick university is desirable
* Experience in generating requirements, technical evaluations, and trade studies
* Proficiency in hand calculations supporting engineering justifications
* Knowledge of finite element analysis software
* Understanding of GD&T to ASME Y14.5 standards
* Significant expertise in design for assembly and manufacture
* Design experience in aerospace or defense, e.g., ISO 15288, is advantageous
