PMLD Teaching Assistant

About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our specialist team supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). This is a deeply rewarding role where you'll work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to provide highly individualised care and education to students with complex needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Support pupils with PMLD in both group and one-to-one settings
* Assist with personal care including toileting, feeding, and moving & handling (training provided)
* Use a range of communication methods including Makaton, PECS, and sensory approaches
* Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and contribute to their review
* Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment
* Work collaboratively with families and outside agencies
Requirements
* Experience working with children or young adults with complex needs (desirable but not essential)
* A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
* Willingness to undertake relevant training, including manual handling and medical protocols
