The Role
We are seeking a Software QA Specialist to take a hands-on role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and usability of our products from day one.
You will be directly responsible for designing, executing, and maintaining test cases, identifying issues, and helping ensure that every release meets the highest standards before it reaches clients. The role is primarily focused on functional testing, with an expectation that you will also introduce and maintain automation and technical validation where it adds value.
This position is internal facing, working closely with Development, Product, and Support teams. As the company scales, there will be opportunities to expand the role into broader responsibilities, including external client-facing quality validation.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
Test Planning & Execution
Develop, maintain, and personally execute test plans, cases, and scripts for functional, regression, and exploratory testing in every development iteration.
Compliance
Perform validation across workflows to ensure products meet legal IT and compliance requirements.
Bug Tracking
Identify, log, and track software defects through to resolution.
Internal Collaboration
Collaborate with Development and Product teams to clarify requirements and acceptance criteria.
Automated Testing
Actively build and own automation for repetitive or high-value test cases, reducing reliance on manual regression testing.
Data & System Validation
Validate data integrity using basic SQL queries and system-level checks.
Development Support
Participate in development iterations to provide input on testability and potential risks.
Efficiency
Ensure high-quality releases without becoming a bottleneck to delivery.
Required Skills
1. Strong grounding in functional testing methodologies and test case design.
2. Familiarity with automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright) and willingness to expand automation coverage.
3. Knowledge of SQL for basic data validation.
4. Comfortable working in an iterative development process.
5. Hands-on tester, comfortable executing tests directly rather than delegating.
6. Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work cross-functionally.
Desirable Skills
1. Some exposure to automation within CI/CD pipelines, or a willingness to learn.
2. Familiarity with enterprise-scale SaaS applications.
Further duties and responsibilities depending on the candidate.
