The Apprentice will develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required of an Engineering Manufacturing Technician, supporting safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of GE Vernova projects and services while working within defined processes, quality standards, and regulatory frameworks.
Roles and Responsibilities
Project Management
* Understand the Project Management function and associated KPIs, including contract and financial management, planning, variation orders, early warnings, liquidated damages, operational controls, client interfacing, and local GE Vernova processes and procedures.
* Support project teams in delivering work safely, on time, within scope, cost, and quality requirements.
Engineering
* Understand the Engineering function and apply fundamental principles of electrical and electronic engineering relevant to power transmission equipment.
* Develop working knowledge of CAD tools, single line diagrams, AC and DC schematics, Bills Of Materials, and technical specifications, and their application within engineering and manufacturing environments.
* Support engineering activities in accordance with GE technical standards and ST0841 requirements.
Quality
* Understand the Quality function, its role in GE Vernova, and key quality KPIs including non-conformances, defects, rework, scrap, and customer complaints.
* Understand quality principles, systems, and procedures, including inspections, audits, document control, and corrective and preventive actions using defined tools and processes.
* Support the Quality team with routine inspections, verification activities, and adherence to defined procedures.
* Support the creation, maintenance, and review of quality records, reports, and documentation.
* Learn and apply root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies to support investigations and corrective actions.
* Promote a strong quality and safety culture, ensuring compliance with internal, customer, and regulatory requirements, escalating issues when identified.
Sourcing
* Support the sourcing team in conducting RFQs, supplier evaluations, pricing negotiations, and contractual terms (T&Cs) in line with GE sourcing policies.
* Support buyers with purchase order acknowledgements, delivery tracking, resolution of delivery issues, and schedule changes.
* Support the sourcing leader in developing and maintaining key performance metrics such as on-time delivery, cost savings, year-over-year deflation, spending and performance reports, introducing new ideas for data presentation and analysis.
* Learn Lean methodology and Lean tools, applying continuous improvement thinking to sourcing and operational processes.
* Help organise sourcing data and supplier information to ensure accessibility and effective knowledge management.
