Thomson Cooper is an independent firm of Accountants and Business Advisors operating across Central Scotland with offices in Edinburgh and Dunfermline. In recent years our Audit portfolio has grown significantly and is now a large and diverse portfolio of commercial and third sector entities in various sectors.

THE ROLE
1. Preparing accounts and undertaking independent examinations for not-for-profit/charity clients
2. Lead audits (from planning through to completion) and supervision of junior members of the team
3. Highlighting risk areas and areas of concern to the audit manager
4. Ensuring compliance with SORP
5. Work closely with Partners/Managers
6. Building relationships with clients as such to develop an understanding of their organisations and the general business/economic regulatory environment they operate
7. Manage own and others workload to ensure deadlines are met
8. Support the manager in planning and co-ordinating work
9. Deliver a service that exceeds clients’ expectations
10. Train, mentor and supervise less experienced members of the team
ABOUT YOU
11. Minimum part qualified ACCA/ICAS or equivalent or QBE
12. At least 2-3 years’ experience of working in the not-for-profit/charity sector, of which 1 year at a supervisory level
13. Experience of preparing charity accounts preferred, but not essential
14. Passionate about charities
15. Knowledge of the charities SORP
16. Strong work ethic with commitment to deliver first class service
17. Strong time management and organisational skills
18. Good technical knowledge and IT skills
19. Strong communication skills both oral and written
