Location: Various sites across Hertfordshire (Hemel, Watford, St Albans, Abbots Langley, Bushey, Bishop Stortford, Rickmansworth, Welwyn Garden City, Hoddesdon, Potters Bar, Letchworth, Stevenage)
Contract: Zero Hours
Shifts: Monday to Sunday (Early Shift, Day Shift, Late Shift, Long Day, Waking Nights, Sleep-In Nights)
About the Role
A good Care Assistant is a compassionate, supportive and well-rounded individual. Maintaining reliability and organisation is also vital. These traits are imperative to provide the necessary support and comfort to recovering, disabled or frail clients.
We are looking for competent care assistants to support physically and/or mentally challenged service users in their everyday lives, enabling their independence as far as is possible. The support required takes into account the varying needs of people including those recovering from an operation or illness, with mild to severe learning disabilities, mental health difficulties, sensory impairments, dysphagia, epilepsy, and the beginnings of age-related conditions, particularly dementia.
The fulfilment and satisfaction that comes with helping others surpasses the challenges of this job. Experience in housekeeping tasks and caring for the elderly or sick will make you a strong candidate.
Your Responsibilities
1. Follow care plans, routines, guidelines, risk assessments, and Behaviour Management Plans
2. Assist with personal hygiene, bathing, and dressing
3. Administer medication as required (training provided)
4. Support mobility: moving and handling, hoisting
5. Assist with physical therapy exercises
6. Prepare appropriate meals and assist with feeding where required
7. Provide social interaction and emotional support
8. Carry out household chores: tidying, cleaning, washing, ironing, and shopping
9. Complete paperwork: handover notes and reporting unusual events to supervisors or physicians
10. Act quickly and responsibly in emergencies
Requirements & Skills
11. Proven experience as a Care Assistant or similar role
12. Committed to health and safety
13. Able to do housework and cook
14. Well-organised and reliable
15. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
16. Positive and compassionate attitude
17. Strong ethics and physical stamina
