Senior Dynamics 365 Finance Consultant

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations Consultant to deliver a full end-to-end D365 F&O implementation. This role requires deep functional expertise, strong solution architecture capability, hands-on configuration experience, and the confidence to work directly with senior stakeholders, finance leaders, and technical teams.

The consultant will be responsible for shaping the solution, leading design decisions, configuring the platform, overseeing integrations and data migration, managing testing and cutover, and supporting post-go-live stabilisation. This is not a support-only or module-specific role — we are looking for someone who has implemented D365 F&O multiple times in real organisations.

This role is open to both:

Permanent candidates who want long-term platform ownership and evolution, and
Experienced contractors who specialise in ERP implementations and can drive delivery at pace.

In either case, the expectation is the same: full lifecycle ownership, strong functional leadership, and hands-on delivery capability.



Requirements

Key Responsibilities

1. Discovery & Solution Design

Translate business requirements into fit-to-standard D365 F&O designs

Define:
* Chart of Accounts structure
* Financial dimensions and reporting hierarchies
* Legal entities and intercompany models
* Tax, VAT, and statutory reporting requirements (UK-focused)
Produce:
* Solution Blueprint / High-Level Design (HLD)
* Functional Design Documents (FDDs)
* Gap-fit analysis with mitigation strategy
2. Core D365 F&O Implementation

Hands-on configuration and ownership of core modules, typically including:

Finance
* General Ledger
* Accounts Payable
* Accounts Receivable
* Cash & Bank Management
* Fixed Assets
* Budgeting & Financial Reporting
* VAT / UK statutory compliance
Operations (as applicable)
* Expense Management
* Project Operations (PSA / Project Accounting)
* Inventory & Supply Chain (if in scope)
You will:
* Configure standard functionality wherever possible
* Minimise customisation and justify any extensions
* Define security roles and segregation of duties
* Align solution with audit, compliance, and control expectations
3. Integrations & Data Migration

Define integration patterns with:
* HR / Payroll systems
* Banking platforms
* Reporting platforms (Power BI)
Work with technical teams on:
* Data migration strategy (opening balances, historical data)
* Data mapping, cleansing, and validation
* Cutover and reconciliation plans
* Validate integration and migration outputs from a business and financial integrity perspective
Required Experience

Essential

8–12+ years of Dynamics AX / Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations experience

Multiple full end-to-end D365 F&O implementations (not just upgrades or support roles)

Proven experience leading implementations from:
* Discovery → Design → Build → Test → Go-Live → Hypercare
Strong finance background with deep understanding of:
* GL, AP, AR, FA, VAT, month-end close
Hands-on configuration experience (not just advisory)
Experience working with senior finance stakeholders
Strong documentation and workshop facilitation skills

Desirable

Experience in UK-based organisations and UK VAT/statutory reporting

Experience in:
* Professional services, consulting, or project-based businesses
* Multi-legal-entity and multi-currency environments
Certifications (Strongly Preferred)

Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Finance Functional Consultant Associate
Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management Functional Consultant Associate
Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations Apps Solution Architect Expert
