Plant Manager – Earthworks & Ground Remediation

The Company
Lemon Drizzle Recruitment has been appointed to support a growing Earthworks and Ground Remediation Contractor in the search of a Plant Manager. This is a new and exciting role for the business. They deliver bulk earthworks and ground remediation for commercial, industrial and residential build projects across the UK. With a close-knit team based in Middlesbrough, they offer genuine progression opportunities within a business that values collaboration, autonomy and long-term development.
The Role
This is a key operational and commercial role responsible for managing the company’s plant fleet and maximising utilisation across internal projects and external hires. Working closely with the Commercial Director and Construction Director, you will coordinate plant resources, support project delivery, and help develop new client relationships.
While predominantly office-based, the role offers hybrid and flexible working to suit the right individual.
Key Responsibilities
* Full management of the company’s plant fleet
* Booking, scheduling and coordinating plant across internal projects and external hires
* Liaising with site teams to ensure plant availability and efficient utilisation
* Managing relationships with existing hire clients and winning repeat bookings
* Supplying plant to new clients and supporting business development activity
* Account management for external plant hire customers
* Coordinating internal and external job requirements to maximise fleet efficiency
* Supporting commercial decision-making around plant deployment and investment
Plant Experience Required
Strong working knowledge of heavy plant, including:
* 25–75 tonne excavators
* Stabilisation units
* Articulated Dump Trucks (ADT’s)
* Road rail dumpers / RDC’s
About You
* Proven experience in plant management within construction, earthworks or civil engineering
* Strong understanding of heavy plant operations and logistics
* Commercially aware with the ability to win and retain client bookings
* Organised, proactive and confident working in a small team environment
* Comfortable working closely with senior leadership
* Business development experience beneficial but not the primary focus
