Overview
The post holder will be part of the senior clinical team with a priority on the delivery of the service. You will take responsibility for your own training and development, with opportunities provided by the Trust and an Educational Supervisor assigned. You will work in accordance with the GMC Good Medical Practice and Trust policies and engage in re-validation and appraisal.
Responsibilities
The post holder will provide extensive clinical and surgical experience in the diagnosis and management of anterior segment disease (Corneal/External diseases and Refractive) and General Ophthalmology. You will participate in the diagnosis, management and follow-up of patients with all types of anterior segment diseases, primarily, and will also provide General Ophthalmology and undertake surgery on such cases both under supervision and independently. You will be encouraged to develop clinical skills and progress to a increasingly complex caseload. While service delivery is important, you will contribute to the wider trust as a medical leader in areas such as research, audit, outcomes, management and teaching, supported by the department and QVH.
The ability to provide unsupervised cataract surgery to a competent level is non-negotiable and a fundamental requirement of the Fellowship.

Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants should have completed their speciality training in Ophthalmology and fulfil all the competencies of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists Speciality Training Curriculum in this respect. This role is expected to start in July 2026. The post holder must have the ability to perform unsupervised cataract surgery to a competent level.
