Lead Structural Engineer Job Title: Lead Structural Engineer Location: Watford (Hybrid – 4 days onsite) Salary: Up to £75,000 Overview We are working with an established and highly respected organisation within the built environment sector, seeking an experienced Lead Structural Engineer to provide technical leadership across a range of complex and innovative structural projects. This is a senior role combining technical expertise, team leadership, and strategic input, offering the opportunity to influence project delivery, client relationships, and long-term capability development. The Role As Lead Structural Engineer, you will take ownership of structural engineering activities, leading both project delivery and technical direction. You will act as a key point of expertise within the team, supporting complex enquiries and contributing to the wider growth of the function. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage structural engineering activities aligned to project objectives and growth plans Oversee project delivery, ensuring compliance with relevant BS and EN standards Develop and interpret structural testing regimes (static and dynamic) Manage and coordinate laboratory-based testing activities Provide guidance and leadership to engineers, technicians, and supporting teams Act as the technical authority on complex structural matters Support client engagement and contribute to business development activities Oversee inspection, analysis, and reporting across UK construction methods Contribute to the ongoing strategic development of the engineering team Requirements Chartered Structural Engineer (essential) Strong knowledge of BS / EN standards and codes Proven experience in structural behaviour and mechanics Experience managing or mentoring technical teams Strong technical reporting and proposal writing capability Good understanding of UK construction methods Experience or exposure to structural fire engineering Proficiency in AutoCAD, FEA tools, and MS Office Commercial awareness and ability to support client-facing activity What's on Offer Salary up to £75,000 Hybrid working model Pension scheme Life assurance Enhanced family-friendly benefits Health and wellbeing support Onsite facilities Ongoing professional development and training support
