Overview
Personal Assistant required for a happy and active 10-year‑old boy in the St Eval/Wadebridge area. The boy is severely autistic with dyspraxia and has difficulty with sensory processing. He needs a positive, 1:1 support that assists his independence in the community and promotes his enjoyment of outdoor activities and frequent visits to shops, beaches and parks.
Key Responsibilities
* Build a trusting relationship with the child and provide ongoing 1:1 support.
* Assist the child in daily activities that promote independence.
* Accompany him on active outdoor adventures such as water play, beach and park visits, and woodland exploration.
* Support the child’s sensory and behavioural needs safely and with confidence.
Qualifications & Experience
* Essential: Some knowledge or personal experience working with young people with special educational needs.
* Prior experience with autistic or dyspraxic children is highly desirable.
Compensation & Working Hours
* £13 per hour.
* 10 hours per week (flexible).
* Weekend and school holiday availability required.
Travel & Insurance
Car driver preferred with business class insurance. The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family and will not be engaged by Cornwall Council.
Health & Security
All offers of employment will be subject to the successful candidate undertaking an enhanced DBS check, administered by Cornwall Council.
