Attendance Officer Attendance Officer - Secondary School - Sheffield Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: £26,403 – £28,142 per annum (Support Scale 7–11, FTE) Start Date: Monday 3rd November 2025 About the Role Attendance Officer - Secondary School - Sheffield We are recruiting on behalf of a busy and inclusive secondary school in Sheffield for a committed and proactive Attendance Officer to join their pastoral and administrative team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting young people, improving school attendance, and making a genuine impact within the education sector. The successful candidate will work closely with staff, parents, and external agencies to monitor, analyse, and promote high levels of student attendance and punctuality across the school. Key Responsibilities * Monitor and record student attendance and punctuality using the school’s management information systems. * Produce and analyse weekly attendance reports for the leadership team. * Liaise with parents and carers via phone calls, meetings, and home visits to discuss attendance concerns. * Support legal interventions, including Fixed Penalty Notices and referrals to the Local Authority. * Attend and contribute to safeguarding and multi-agency meetings. * Promote positive attendance habits and early intervention strategies. * Assist with first aid provision (training provided). Essential Skills & Experience: * GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade C / Level 4 or above. * Previous experience working in a school or educational setting. * Sound understanding of DfE guidance and legal frameworks around attendance. * Excellent IT, data management, and administrative skills. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and handle sensitive situations with empathy.
