Role Overview
The Pharmacy Technician will support clinical pharmacy services across inpatient wards, focusing on medicines reconciliation, inpatient supply, discharge processes, and patient counselling. The role includes rotation across defined clinical areas and offers national accreditation opportunities in Medicines Management, Medicines Reconciliation, and Final Accuracy Checking.
Key Responsibilities
* Participate in medicines reconciliation and inpatient supply
* Support timely discharge and counsel patients on medication
* Deliver ward‑based pharmacy services aligned with departmental strategy
* Rotate across clinical areas based on experience
* Maintain accuracy and efficiency in technical pharmacy tasks
* Engage with patients, carers, and multidisciplinary teams

Required Skills and Experience
* Completion of a GPhC‑accredited course or apprenticeship pathway
* Registered with the GPhC as a Pharmacy Technician
* Recent experience in hospital, community pharmacy, or GP practice
* Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work under pressure and adapt to change
* Basic computer literacy
* Understanding of clinical governance, formulary management, and medicines legislation

* Experience in medicines reconciliation and patient counselling
* Knowledge of audit methodology and electronic prescribing systems
* Post‑registration qualifications in medicines management or consultation skills
