Job Description
We're seeking a strategic Outage Planner to lead our maintenance planning initiatives at Grangemouth Manufacturing Complex. In this crucial role, you'll be responsible for orchestrating major facility outages, optimizing resource allocation, and driving cost-effective maintenance solutions. Working at the intersection of multiple disciplines, you'll collaborate with diverse teams - from construction and operations to mechanical integrity and plant maintenance - to develop comprehensive work packs and maintain site-wide consistency in outage planning. Your expertise will be vital in shaping our HSE standards, quality protocols, and manpower utilization strategies, ensuring our facility maintains peak operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
* Drive HSE culture and Goal Zero initiatives within the outage team
* Gather and analyze initial outage scope, including legal and regulatory requirements
* Develop detailed work packs and comprehensive maintenance plans
* Create and maintain master schedules in collaboration with stakeholders
* Prepare +/- 10% cost estimates and manage resource planning
* Coordinate material requirements and ensure timely availability
* Monitor progress through S-curves and critical path analysis
* Lead daily execution meetings and coordinate with external contractors
* Manage emergent repair work during execution phase
* Support outage closure and performance analysis
Qualifications
* Proven experience in engineering maintenance/outage planning
* Proficiency in Primavera P6
* Strong technical engineering background
* Experience in chemical, petrochemical, or similar industries
* Excellent stakeholder management skills
* Track record of successful outage planning and execution
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
* Demonstrated leadership capabilities

The site was founded in 1919 and today employs nearly 400 skilled people in a variety of roles that include manufacturing, engineering, scientific and production support. Our goal is to operate “safely, reliably and cost effectively” and to help growers protect their crops and increase their yield.
At Syngenta Grangemouth we have four plants dedicated to active ingredient (AI) manufacture, and one formulation and packaging plant. A 5th plant due to open in 2026.
