Job Description:
Do you enjoy tax technical research and solving complex technical queries? We are looking for a talented individual at Manager level, from either a corporate or mixed tax background, to be part of our national Central Technical Team. The ideal candidate will have very strong technical skills, drive, and curiosity.
The Central Technical team works with teams across the tax practice to collect, create, curate, and communicate technical insight for our teams and clients. This involves conducting original research, analyzing knowledge submissions, producing and maintaining technical resources, assisting with complex queries, producing newsletters, and monitoring tax developments from case law or Budget and Finance Bill processes. Collaboration with the Tax Policy team is also required.
We are expanding the team to enhance technical expertise, grow our technical guidance resources, and incorporate new technologies, including AI tools.
Team members are located across the UK, supporting flexible and hybrid working. While not directly client-facing, understanding client issues is essential.
Responsibilities:
1. Producing technical reference and thought leadership materials.
2. Conducting research to draft technical materials based on legislation, case law, and guidance, integrating insights from various sources.
3. Maintaining and updating materials to reflect legal and procedural changes.
4. Supporting client service teams with complex technical queries.
5. Engaging with HMRC and HMT on relevant issues, such as consultations.
6. Collaborating with technology specialists to develop research tools, including AI solutions.
7. Providing technical support for training initiatives, which may include developing and presenting content.
Minimum requirements:
* Legal or tax qualification (CTA or equivalent).
* Familiarity with the UK tax system and ability to learn new regimes quickly.
* Ability to interpret legislation and case law, and conduct legal research.
* Knowledge of tax technology tools, including AI, is desirable.
* Experience in delivering practical advice to clients is a plus.
