Job Description:
**Construction Associate – NQ to Senior Associate**
**Locations: Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds**
**Team: Construction**
**Term: Permanent | Full-time**
### **About the Role**
Our client is seeking a Construction Associate to join their growing national team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients, including household names, on high-quality non-contentious construction matters. The role will also suit candidates with a mix of contentious and non-contentious experience who are looking to develop their skills further.
You will be advising on a wide variety of projects, including development and infrastructure schemes, real estate and corporate transactions, property finance, and process plant contracts. The team includes professionals with both private practice and in-house backgrounds and welcomes candidates from either path.
For more senior candidates, there is an expectation of mentoring junior team members and contributing to the development of the team. A strong background in non-contentious construction work is essential, ideally with experience acting for a range of clients including those on the contractor or supply side.
### **What We’re Looking For**
We are open to candidates from NQ level up to Senior Associate. The ideal candidate will have:
– Experience in both non-contentious and contentious construction law (or a strong desire to develop in both areas)
– Solid knowledge of standard form contracts such as JCT and NEC
– Experience with development agreements, process plant contracts, and associated documentation
– A client-focused approach with the ability to manage relationships effectively
– For senior candidates: the ability to mentor junior lawyers and a strong track record in non-contentious work, ideally with contractor-side experience
### **About the Team**
Our client’s construction team is involved in some of the UK’s most significant construction and infrastructure projects. The team provides strategic advice from project inception through to completion, including procurement, risk management, and dispute resolution.
With expertise in brownfield development, environmental compliance, and modern construction methods, the team supports clients across the sector-developers, contractors, consultants, public bodies, and funders-on both transactional and contentious matters.
### **Why Join?**
– Work on high-profile, complex construction projects
– Be part of a collaborative, nationally recognised team
– Opportunities for career progression and mentoring
– Exposure to both contentious and non-contentious work streams
### **Benefits Include:**
– Competitive salary and bonus scheme
– Private medical insurance
– Generous annual leave
– Cycle to Work scheme
– Life assurance
– Flexible benefits portal
### **Diversity & Inclusion**
Our client is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce. They value individuality and are dedicated to creating a supportive environment where everyone can thrive, regardless of background, identity, or experience.
Please note that if you are NOT a passport holder of the country for the vacancy you might need a work permit. Check our Blog for more information.
