Reed Legal are supporting a well-established private practice law firm in Newbury is seeking an experienced Family Law Legal Secretary to join its busy and supportive family department. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a candidate with strong secretarial skills who enjoys working within a fast-paced legal environment.
The RoleThe successful candidate will provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to family fee-earners, ensuring the smooth running of the department. The role involves preparing legal documents, managing diaries, maintaining accurate client files, and liaising with clients, courts, and third parties.
Key Responsibilities• Preparing and formatting legal documentation for a variety of family law matters• Providing audio typing support using digital dictation• Managing diaries, booking appointments, and coordinating court bundles• Handling incoming calls and email correspondence in a professional manner• Maintaining accurate records and ensuring efficient file management• Assisting fee-earners with daily administrative tasks to support workflow and deadlines
Candidate Requirements• Previous experience as a Legal Secretary within a Family Law department• Strong typing speed, excellent accuracy, and high attention to detail• Ability to work effectively in a busy department with competing priorities• Professional, client-focused communication skills• Confident IT skills, including MS Office and legal case-management systems
