Job Overview
The Acute Medical Unit (AMU) at University Hospital Southampton is looking for experienced Nurses to join the team. We have permanent full and part-time roles available.
Do you love working in acute medicine, have transferable skills from another specialty, or are you looking for the next step in your career? If so, we look forward to hearing from you.
AMU is a busy 54-bedded unit spread across five areas. We admit patients directly from the emergency department, Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), or GP, at their most unwell phase at any time of day or night. Our goal is to treat patients and either discharge them home within 48 hours of admission or transfer them to a specialty ward within this time. This dynamic environment ensures no two days are the same, with constantly changing patient needs.
Main Duties of the Job
As a Staff Nurse, you will work alongside a dedicated and supportive team, forming an integral part of our multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care to our patients.
You will join a motivated team passionate about delivering excellent care. Your role involves working with the multidisciplinary team to ensure treatments align with Trust protocols, providing regular updates on patient progress, responding immediately to any changes in patient condition, and reporting these to relevant healthcare professionals.
You will also collaborate with fellow nurses to supervise team members and participate in both formal and informal teaching activities.
