We are now recruiting for Automation Maintenance Engineer at our Tyneside Mail Centre, Earlsway Tvte, Gateshead, NE11 0YY site.

The successful candidate will be required to follow the Tyneside Mail Centre shift rotation system, with some voluntary flexibility to meet our 24/7 operational needs, including voluntary overtime and occasional shift pattern flexibility.
The role will cover early, late, and night shifts.
The Role
Responsible for ensuring the availability and performance of automation assets through effective maintenance procedures.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Perform maintenance tasks, including preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance.
2. Engage in continuous improvement activities.
3. Support the Engineering Manager, Maintenance Team Leader, and Engineering Team Coaches by completing end-of-shift reports, fault logging, and data entry.
4. Identify root causes of automation breakdowns and prioritize corrective actions to meet operational requirements.
5. Monitor equipment performance and collaborate with operational stakeholders to improve automation outputs.
6. Lead Continuous Improvement projects from conception to implementation for machinery in the Hub/Mail Centre.
7. Work independently and as part of a team to achieve common goals.
About you
You should be an experienced multi-skilled engineer qualified in electrical and mechanical engineering (minimum ONC Electrical Engineering / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent). You should understand Health & Safety legislation and have hands-on experience maintaining automation equipment. A flexible approach and effective communication of complex issues are essential. You should have a passion for continuous improvement and be willing to work towards obtaining City and Guilds 2391 & 2392 testing and inspection certification. A full UK driving licence is required as travel to other sites may be necessary.
