Job Overview

Business Development Director – Global Systems, Maritime Sector. The successful candidate will partner closely with senior leaders in Business Development and Global Systems and work with government relations, technical teams and functional organizations to drive strategic growth by engaging customers, identifying new business opportunities, and supporting corporate and segment-level initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

* Lead initiatives associated with all new business growth areas in the Global Systems Division.
* Support Global Systems Division objectives and serve as an active member of the Division team.
* Represent Global Systems in sector growth initiatives.
* Establish strong relationships with key international regional customers.
* Identify new and adjacent markets, unmet customer needs, and opportunities to expand existing programs/products.
* Allocate and recommend discretionary resources to shape and win opportunities and achieve financial goals.
* Prioritize campaign engagements leveraging senior management participation.
* Support collection of competitive intelligence and win-strategy development to enhance understanding of customers and competitors.
* Create and foster a business-acumen culture that embraces a proactive approach to support business leaders in identifying, pursuing and closing new business.
* Collaborate with BD teammates including marketing communications, capture teams, and other L3Harris sectors/divisions.
* Support new opportunity qualification, "connect-the-dots" across L3Harris to provide best value to customers.
* Translate technical understanding of products and technology for customer communication and engagement.
* Estimate and manage new-business funds used to pursue opportunities.
* Participate in strategic planning for internal research and development.
* Execute campaign strategies supporting business capture planning.
* Lead or support business acquisition process milestone/gate reviews including opportunity identification, qualification, pursuit, pre-proposal, and proposal processes.
* Manage the Global Systems Division’s opportunity pipeline.
* Organize participation in forums/conferences to position L3Harris as a thought leader in the global maritime industry.
* Act as a change agent, ensuring strategies and campaigns are mission- and customer-focused.
* Manage people, their work products, and professional development to enable new business growth.


Qualifications

* Minimum 15 years of experience in business development or a post-graduate degree and 13 years of experience in the business-development arena.
* Experience in international regional markets and maritime platform capabilities.
* Active SECRET Security Clearance or ability to obtain one.


Preferred Additional Skills

* Experience leading new-business pursuits.
* Experience with ship and/or boat builders in international locations.
* Experience engaging with senior executives at government agencies, major prime contractors, and commercial companies.
* Established contacts within the International Maritime Communities.
* Understanding of maritime international markets, mission lifecycle, system design, architecture, and operations.
* Ability to work independently under limited supervision.
* Ability to lead and develop relationships with geographically dispersed people.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to travel up to 50 %.
