Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to make a full-time appointment for a Speciality Doctor to work in the well-established Mental Health Liaison Team based at Fairfield Hospital Bury. This is a substantive appointment. The appointee will have a role in consolidating recent developments within this service, helping it continue to develop to meet the 'Core 24' standards defined by the Department of Health.
Main duties of the job
These include clinical, liaison, educational, managerial, and service evaluation roles. Clinical work involves assessment and interventions with patients in the Acute Trust and working with an expanding multidisciplinary liaison mental health team. The team promotes skill development within the Acute Trust and pathway development.

The post holder will join existing consultant liaison psychiatrists and the liaison mental health team to improve care standards for acute Trust patients. There will be close links with developments across Pennine Care and Greater Manchester.

Person Specification
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS
* MBChB or equivalent
* Section 12 Approval or willingness to seek approval
* MRCPsych or equivalent
* Registered as completed Higher Training with the Royal College of Psychiatrists
* Progress towards additional postgraduate degrees such as MSc or MD
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE
* Good interpersonal and team-working skills
* Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Mental Health Act and Care Programme Approach
* Additional relevant special interest (e.g., ECT)
* Active involvement in continuing professional development
EXPERIENCE
* Minimum of 4 years postgraduate experience at CT, ST, or Staff Grade level
* Experience relevant to working in Age Psychiatry
* Experience in teaching and training
* Management experience
* Experience in service development and planning
* Worked for a total of 10 years since primary qualification (acceptable by GMC for registration)
