Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Thales

4‑Day Working Week (Mon‑Thu)
About the Role
An immediate vacancy for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join an established team at our Templecombe facility. The role involves design for manufacture, product lifecycle support, mechanical and electronic build/assembly, and providing technical support to the onsite industrial footprint.
Key Responsibilities
* Define, set up, prepare and optimise manufacturing processes and tooling for product lines.
* Prepare data for and run Production Readiness Reviews (PRRs).
* Assess manufacturing readiness level (MRL) and identify and minimise risks.
* Contribute to compliance with Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) regulations.
* Define and optimise manufacturing documentation, tools and workflows.
* Attend Material Review Boards (MRBs) and Configuration Control Boards (CCBs).
* Lead product DFM/A reviews, FMEA reviews, and drive design change to improve manufacturability.
* Mentor junior members and promote lean manufacturing techniques.
* Design layout of manufacturing facility, identify new capital equipment and tooling requirements.
* Implement manufacturing and process controls to achieve design requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
* Proven experience as a Manufacturing Engineer, preferably with a mechanical or electromechanical assembly background.
* Experience in low to medium volume production environments.
* Strong understanding of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing techniques.
* Knowledge of manufacturing systems: routings, BOMs, change requests, etc.
* Broad process knowledge including machining, assembly and testing.
* Strong communication skills and ability to produce high‑standard documentation.
* Ability to manage own time and meet customer needs.
