Description
Reporting directly to the Central Services Lead for Trivandi’s delivery, the Finance Manager will oversee all financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and effective management of contracts and cash flow. This role is critical to establishing and maintaining effective financial processes and systems that support the delivery of a successful Games.
This role is both hands-on and strategic, supporting day-to-day live delivery, while also driving forecasting, financial risk identification, and value-for-money across the full project. The Finance Manager will play a vital role in helping the team make live decisions based on real-time data, financial analysis, and strong governance.
Working Arrangements
The role will commence in the Organising Company’s Glasgow city centre office, with visits required to competition venues as needed to fully deliver the responsibilities of the role. The location for the role may transition to being based at a competition venue as we approach the Games.
The role will be contracted for 40 hours per week, with office attendance aligned to the Organising Company’s working pattern. All travel to your place of work will be at your own cost. During the Games operational period, shift patterns are likely to be required, which could include weekends.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the finance lead for the project, reporting directly to senior leadership and providing clear financial insights to support decision-making.
* Design and scale finance processes to meet the evolving needs of the project, implementing fit-for-purpose controls, reporting frameworks, and financial policies from mobilisation through to Games-time operations.
* Lead the project budget process, including preparation, forecasting, monitoring, and variance analysis, ensuring strict budgetary control and alignment with approved limits.
* Provide accurate and timely financial reports to leadership, including profit and loss, cash flow forecasts, and budget vs. actual performance.
* Work closely with operational and budget owners, advising on financial implications of decisions and supporting them in managing costs effectively.
* Support operational finance teams with reconciliations, including accounts payable, credit card transactions, and other ledger accounts, ensuring completeness and accuracy of financial records.
* Monitor and manage project cash flow, ensuring adequate liquidity for operational activities and proactive management of risks such as FX exposure.
* Oversee financial aspects of supplier and service provider contracts, ensuring compliance with terms, accurate reporting, and timely payments in line with project budgets.
* Manage financial systems and reporting tools, implementing improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and transparency.
* Coordinate project financial audits, ensuring compliance with local, UK, and contractual obligations, and address recommendations proactively.
* Establish, document, and maintain financial processes, embedding best practices in budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
* Act as a trusted advisor to leadership and project stakeholders, providing clear communication of financial risks, opportunities, and recommendations.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Experience
* A professional qualification in finance and/or business administration
* 5+ years’ proven experience in finance and business administration within a small to medium scale company at Manager level
* Experience in a live project-based or fast-growing environment is desirable
* A good understanding of accounting best practice including accounting software
* A track record of delivering excellent results across the range of business areas noted in the job description
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft 365 and Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
* Xero accounting software experience is desirable
