DSV is recruiting for a Tender Manager (flexible UK location).

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Tender Manager to join our team in the third-party logistics (3PL) sector. This role is pivotal in identifying new business opportunities, building strong client relationships, and driving sales growth through innovative solutions and strategic proposals.

Reporting to the General Manager Tender Management UK & IE, as a Tender Manager, you will lead the tender process, from opportunity identification to proposal submission. This includes ensuring the timely submission of high-quality proposals that meet client requirements, managing the tender budget and resources effectively, and establishing compliance with all RFP requirements and guidelines. Essential competencies include proven tender management experience, strong organisational and communication skills, and the ability to lead effectively within a matrix structure.


Key Tasks

1. Building relationships with new clients and gauging their needs.
2. Leading and overseeing the end-to-end tender process, from qualifying opportunities to submitting winning proposals, including analysing tender documents, preparing pricing proposals, and customer presentations.
3. Coordinating with various teams, including sales, solution design, operations, projects, legal, and finance to ensure all aspects of a tender are addressed.
4. Maintaining comprehensive and accurate tender documentation, including tender files, records of communication, and pricing information.
5. Formulating effective strategies for the bidding process, managing resources, and ensuring compliance with client requirements.
6. Creating comprehensive bid documents, ensuring precision and adherence to guidelines while coordinating with external and internal stakeholders.
7. Providing regular and timely updates to internal stakeholders, monitoring progress and tender outcomes.
8. Engaging with suppliers to secure favourable costs and terms to make the bidding process cost-effective.
9. Developing and implementing pricing strategies aligned with business objectives, market dynamics, and the competitive landscape to optimise revenue and profitability.
10. Driving effective bid responses, challenging solutions, IT, and costs appropriately to arrive at the best customer solutions within DSV’s parameters.
11. Monitoring and evaluating bid performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
12. Leading negotiations through tender processes, ensuring best practices and maintaining a competitive advantage.
13. Maintaining and using DSV’s CRM, Dynamics, to drive performance and report on progress and results.
14. Guiding new-business implementations.
15. Keeping up with latest trends and innovations in warehousing and logistics.


Summary of Capabilities/Competencies:

* 3+ years of experience as a bid manager, tender manager, or similar role.
* Experience managing bids for complex projects or large-scale contracts.
* Success in winning bids through effective proposal management.
* Strong understanding of the tender lifecycle, proposal writing, development, and contract negotiation.
* A deep understanding of the sector.
* Ability to inspire trust and respect.
* Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and time management.
* Ability to lead effectively within a matrix structure, influencing rather than direct management.
* Adaptability and a consultative or directive style as needed.
* Highly articulate with the ability to communicate complex messages clearly.
* Confident, clear, and concise communication at all levels, with strong presentation skills.
* Comprehensive understanding of activity-based costing models.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).


Essential Professional Qualities

* Knowledge and experience of selling supply chain solutions.
* Graduate or equivalent qualification.
* Ability to interact at a senior level internally and externally, demonstrating impact and credibility.
* Proven track record of delivering results through negotiation skills in competitive environments.
* High numeracy and literacy levels.
* Ability to inspire trust and provide strong direction with clear objectives.
* Effective leadership within a matrix structure, influencing without direct authority.
* Strong analytical skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
* Sharp negotiation and networking skills.
