Job Description
Applicants should demonstrate evidence of basic literacy and numeracy skills at Standard Grade General level or SVQ2 in Early Years Care and Education, or a National Certificate unit in Childcare & Education, or equivalent competency. This enables effective communication with staff and pupils, and the ability to provide sensitive support.
The role requires familiarity with child development and responsiveness to individual pupils' needs. Prior experience in this field is preferred.
Full competency in the role may require undertaking additional training courses, such as first aid and calm techniques.
If working within a Nursery Environment, the candidate must be registered with or obtain membership with the SSSC within 6 months of appointment. Qualification requirements for registration can be found at www.sssc.uk.com.

Note: Successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale. The minimum salary for 28.5 hours over 39 weeks is £19,249.22 per annum.
Responsibilities
This role involves Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Applicants must not be barred from working with children.
